Event Description:
In January 2019, President Mike Lovell announced Marquette's newest research initiative, the Institute for Women's Leadership, overseen by the Office of Research and Innovation. The new institute was made possible thanks to a generous $5 million donation from the Thomas J. Rolfs Family Foundation. The goal of the institute is to advance research in the area of gender inequality, and create programming and training opportunities for women in leadership, both on campus and in the larger community. The Institute will help Marquette develop research to influence the national discussion on gender inequality, and enhance leadership and career development programming serving women on campus and in the community.

Join us as we hear from TEMPO Milwaukee member Jeanne Hossenlopp, Vice President for Research and Innovation at Marquette, as she discusses the launch and work of the Institute. Jeanne will be joined by Emerging Women Leaders Sasha Parsons Waters who develops programming for the Women’s Innovation Network (WIN) at Marquette and Emily Baseheart who is the founding member of Marquette’s Women’s ERG. Sasha and Emily will share their ERG experiences, recent milestones and future opportunities. Finally, Jennica Webster, Associate Professor for the Department of Management at Marquette, will share her expertise on gender, diversity and underrepresented groups in the workplace. Her content will focus on understanding women in the workplace through data collected and analyzed from a climate survey. What can be learned from the data? How can the data be used in the corporate ERG space in assessing the environment for female employees and advancing the climate for them?
