Event Description:

Have you ever wondered how Artificial Intelligence (AI), and tools like Chat GPT, are reshaping industries, affecting jobs, and influencing workplaces? Our upcoming Professional Development Session is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of AI, specifically focusing on Chat GPT and its implications in the workplace. Sean Jones, Professor of Computer Science at MSOE, will break down the complex concepts behind AI in a way that is accessible to everyone. As we explore the benefits of AI, it is equally essential to consider the potential challenges and ethical concerns that arise with its widespread adoption. Laura Malugade, Labor and Employment Partner at Husch Blackwell, will give her expert insights on how companies can become liable for discrimination via AI. Don't miss this opportunity to unravel the mysteries of AI and gain insights into Chat GPT and its specific applications for the workplace, limitations, and any concerns, leaving you empowered to embrace the future of AI.

About Our Speakers:

Sean Jones is a professor of Computer Science at the Milwaukee School of Engineering where he specializes in teaching programming languages, system requirements and architecture, and Natural Language Processing. His research includes automating language translation systems, identifying bias in large language models, and using AI tools, such as Chat-GPT, in the classroom.

Laura Malugade represents management in all aspects of labor and employment matters from counseling to litigation and everything in between as Partner at Husch Blackwell. Her broad range of experience is impressive, but what sets her apart from others is her ability to read people and understand their motives. Her advice on drafting workplace policies, contracts and handbooks as well as discipline and discharges, discrimination claims, restrictive covenant agreements, grievance arbitrations and unfair labor practice charges allows clients to keep up to speed with changing laws and compliance regulations. Laura has extensive experience litigating claims in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies, including the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, the National Labor Relations Board, and the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.
