Event Description: How can we connect our minds and bodies to set ourselves up for leadership success? Joanna Brooks, yogi and owner of Embody Yoga, shares her leadership journey that focuses on self-reflection to cultivate the best versions of self to serve others. Joanna is an equity advocate for women of color and will show attendees how to use mindfulness and movement for greater purpose. Joanna will lead attendees in chair yoga, with breathing exercises to prep our bodies and minds. Joanna will share of her leadership journey with an audience Q&A to follow. No prior yoga experience is needed. Any type of clothing should be fine, although comfortable clothes are recommended. 

Program Outcomes:

  • Practice simple mindfulness and movement exercises to deepen our self-awareness
  • Learn ways to leverage positive mindfulness to foster leadership development
  • Gain insights from a local business owner on becoming a leader and advocating for equity

About Our Speaker: Joanna is the founder of Embody Yoga, a yoga studio on a mission to share the practice of yoga with Black people and people of color. She recently founded Embody Yoga For All, a non-profit working to bring equity to the field of yoga and Embody, a wellness center catering to the wellness needs of Black women and women. Joanna has a deep commitment to wholistic wellness in communities of color and finds joy in witnessing Black people and others move towards wellness through the practice of yoga and other healing modalities.
