TEMPO Talks: Maintaining Mental Health During the Coronavirus
Panel discussion with Ann Givens (Generac), Christy Miller (PEARLS for Teen Girls) and Maria Perez (Sixteenth Street Community Health Center)

While we are taking measures to protect our physical health from COVID-19, we can’t forget to take care of our mental wellbeing. According to the CDC, “Coping with stress will make you, the people you care about, and your community stronger.” Adopting healthy ways to deal with stress, fear and anxiety is critical right now, especially for people with pre-existing mental illness.

Join us to hear three different perspectives on maintaining mental health during the Coronavirus and mechanisms to cope:

  • Dr. Maria Perez Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist and Vice President of Behavioral Health at Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers. Dr. Perez will help us understand what’s happening to our brains amid the pandemic, and provide strategies to take care of mental health.
  • Christy Miller is the Director of Development at PEARLS for Teen Girls and a passionate mental health advocate. Christy is open about her own journey in hopes of normalizing mental illness and giving others the confidence to share their stories without fear of judgement.
  • By day, Ann Givens is Director of Marketing at Generac. Outside of work hours, Ann is an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT) and developed the prenatal to parent and baby yoga program at Tosa Yoga. Ann will lead attendees in a brief meditation practice to calm the mind and body.
