Creating environments where women have equitable access to opportunity, leadership, advancement and influence.
At TEMPO, we believe progress happens when women have access to strong networks, meaningful connections and leaders who are willing to advocate for them when they are—and are not—in the room. Ultimately, advancing women strengthens organizations, strengthens our communities and expands the pipeline of women prepared to lead.
TEMPO's future relevancy, success, and impact depends on attracting and retaining diverse women who represent the community in which we serve and lead. It is critical that we continue to diversify the racial makeup of TEMPO membership and provide a space for marginalized voices to be heard and valued. At the same time we acknowledge diversity also encompasses ethnicity, function, industry, sexual orientation, religion, age, physical ability, gender identity.
In addition, TEMPO advocates for the advancement of women by elevating research, sharing member perspectives, and contributing to conversations that shape the future of leadership. Through original research and media engagement, we help drive meaningful dialogue and lasting change.
TEMPO Research Finds Workplace Barriers Threaten Milwaukee’s Female Talent Pipeline
TEMPO's Voices of Women at Work: The Milwaukee Experience study reveals that the conversation about women in leadership is far from a celebration — it's an urgent call to action. A survey of executive and emerging women leaders conducted in February 2026, found that 41% of respondents have considered leaving Milwaukee for better professional opportunities. Caregiving demands (43%), burnout (39%), and sponsorship gaps were identified as top barriers to advancement.
The findings carry significant implications for Milwaukee's talent pipeline and economic competitiveness — especially as the region works to attract and retain top talent.
