Negotiate Like a Badass: How to use human behavior to diffuse confrontation
We are all faced with situations where we need to negotiate. Whether it's convincing your significant other that THEY should fold the laundry or countering a salary offer, it's important to know which levers to pull and when.  I want fellow EWL'ers to walk into their next negotiation harnessing their inner badass and to be equipped with the proper tools to not only get what they want - but more.

Ashleigh Edgerson, Program Director, Fund My Future Milwaukee
New You = New WHY: How re-evaluating your WHY is the tool you need to reclaim your space
Over the pandemic I struggled with the decision of whether or not to start a side-hustle. With so much going on around us, I wasn't sure that the thing that I was passionate about even had a space. Right before I threw in the towel my mentor told me to go back to my WHY. Re-evaluating my WHY motivated me to sharpen my skills by reading more about my specific interests, I developed new talents within my craft, and ultimately I found that I had given my WHY a tune up as well. Over the last 2+ years we (women) have been through a whirlwind. Some of us forced to leave our jobs during the great resignation. Some, balancing between running a house-hold and working a full-time job. Others, learning new talents and skills that helped keep our spirits lifted with hope for the better. We all experienced this together. The only thing that sets us a part is how we chose to respond. This topic will walk us through how to incorporate our new skills, talents, and practices into our career cultures post pandemic.

Yolonda Evans, Organization Change and Effectiveness Consultant, American Family Insurance
Don't Press the PANIC Button...Press RESET!
Now more than ever, as women, we are often faced with unique obstacles... Those barriers are not just limited to the roles we want in corporate America at that Fortune 100 company, they also exist in our lives when it comes to the role of being a woman in general, a wife, a partner, a mother, a guardian, a caregiver and so on. Over 2 years ago, our world got a little more complicated. If we thought at any moment we had our path to success all figured out and that was "The Plan", it may have all changed. After being "re-routed / re-directed", we learned to be agile (little "a"). Navigating the twist and turns of our "new normal" eventually would leave us questioning our abilities, purpose/passion and lacking the same enthusiasm as before. We would experience burnout, anxiety and being de-motivated in one role or another (or multiple) in our lives at alarming rates. This presentation walks us through acknowledging that our feelings are normal and relevant in experiencing this level of change. Also discusses building our resilience, choosing a new way of embracing "forced innovation" or "detours" in our paths forward.

Kaitlin Henze, Senior Project Manager, Trimble Inc.
Is It Really Ok To Put Myself First?
Over the past 3 years I have been studying mindfulness and compassion through the NY Center for Nonviolent Communication as well as classes through the Mindfulness Self Compassion Institute on the elements of MSC, building resilience, positive neuroplasticity, and the impact these practices can have on all of our relationships. This has completely transformed by work relationships and the way that I interact with coworkers and I would like to share my story and tips for success with fellow women. This topic will help women understand how to relate to others, provide a safe space for processing emotions through self-empathy and leaning on each other, and allow women to take action that will benefit their relationship with themselves, relationship with others, and how they serve the community.

Sydney Hofer, Assistant Director - Employee Communication, Northwestern Mutual
About That Gap In My Resume...
I have a gap in my resume. It’s not something I talk about a lot. What’s deceiving is… it’s not actually a gap. I worked part-time retail for about six months to help make ends meet. I left a toxic work environment and manager. And that part-time retail job saved me. There were emotional decisions, both personal and professional, that I had to make. My village rallied around me to support me. There was an unexpected job offer. And I found the job that opened doors for me and helped me regain my confidence. And it all led me to the role I have today. This ended up being the best thing to happen to me. Stuff happens. It can happen to any of us, at any time. There should be no shame in a career gap – the more we talk about them, the more normal they become. I will speak about owning your career history, for better or worse. It’s all part of your story.
