Event Description: In a conversation with EWL member and friend Lynn Griffith, Raquel will reflect on her career and share the 
advice she'd give her younger self. They'll discuss topics including influence, navigating through crises, mentorship, community impact and advocacy.

About Raquel Filmanowicz: From March-September 2020, Raquel Filmanowicz took a leave of absence from BMO Harris Bank to become the CEO of the 2020 DNC Host Committee.  In this role she was responsible for the execution of the civic activities of the 2020 Democratic National Convention.  She led the organization in navigating pandemic response as plans shifted quickly from in-person to virtual convention.

She has returned to BMO Harris Bank as Director of Economic Equity Advisory Group.  In this role she works to create an effective internal and external network for successful business banking client acquisition opportunities.  She works closely with clients to identify the best holistic financial solutions, and identifies and initiates cross-sell opportunities in the best interest of the customer. Prior to this new role, Ms. Filmanowicz was the Director, Community Giving from BMO.  She worked closely with heads of major business lines, bankers, and internal partners in marketing, corporate community and sponsorships to create and execute an integrated community giving plans that determine the bank’s strategic philanthropic outreach.

From 2008-2012, Ms. Filmanowicz was appointed Health Operations Administrator for the City of Milwaukee Health Department by Mayor Tom Barrett.  She was responsible for the day-to-day operational activities of its three major health divisions: Family and Community Health, Disease Control and Environmental Health and Laboratory Services. 

She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee and holds a certificate of Corporate Community Involvement from Boston College. In March 2009, she attended Driving Government Performance, an executive program conducted at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. She is former board chair of Hispanic Professionals of Greater Milwaukee.  She serves on the board of directors of Children's Hospital Foundation, United Community Center, Captain Frederick Pabst Mansion and is a community advisory board member for UWM Chancellor's Committee for Hispanic Serving Initiatives.

In 2019 she received the Women of Influence award from the Milwaukee Business Journal.  She has also received the Peak Performer Award from Junior Achievement and Graduate of the Last Decade award from Cardinal Stritch University.  In 2017 she was named on the 48 Most Influential Latinos in Wisconsin.  In 2010 she was selected for the Milwaukee Business Journal’s 40 under 40 awards program. Her civic involvement includes former board chair of Hispanic Professionals of Greater Milwaukee.  She serves on the board of directors of Children's Hospital Foundation, United Community Center, Captain Frederick Pabst Mansion and is a community advisory board member for UWM Chancellor's Committee for Hispanic Serving Initiatives.  Past board membership involvement includes terms on the boards of directors of PEARLS for Teen Girls, Inc., the American Heart Association-Milwaukee, and the United Way of Greater Milwaukee’s Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program.
