Event Description:

Dr. Prince is a vice chancellor, an educator, A United Nations ambassador, a mentor and a TEMPO member. Dr. Joan Prince’s list of accomplishments could go on and on and on including having March 2, 2021 proclaimed “Joan Prince Day” by Mayor Barrett. For our Past Presidents program on June 17, TEMPO will celebrate newly retired Dr. Prince as she recounts her many years serving as vice chancellor of Global Inclusion and Engagement at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, her leadership as a tireless supporter for inclusion of all students, faculty and staff and her commitment to changing the narrative for Milwaukee’s black and brown communities. Dr. Prince’s influence stretches far beyond southeastern Wisconsin. She will talk about her nomination from President Barack Obama to serve as an alternate representative to the 67th General Assembly of the United Nations. And amidst her many achievements also came some incredible hurdles and challenges. Dr. Prince will recall the call that would change her life forever. Finally, Dr. Prince will share her more than 20-year legacy with TEMPO, including serving as President of TEMPO International, and reflect on how the organization has grown and evolved over the last two decades.  Dr. Prince will sit down for this intimate conversation with TEMPO’s new Board Chair DeVona Wright Cottrell.
