February Program Meeting: The Evolution of the Milwaukee Public Museum
Program & Focus Groups Led by Ellen Censky & Katie Sanders Date: Thursday, February 18
Time: Noon to 1 p.m. (Program) 1 to 1:30 p.m. (Focus Groups) Location: Zoom Description: A nearly 140-year icon in our community, the next evolution of the Milwaukee Public Museum is on the horizon. Join us during our virtual February Program Meeting to hear from Ellen Censky, TEMPO member and CEO of the MPM, along with Katie Sanders, Chief Planning Officer for MPM, about the vision of the new museum. Its new design and experience will reflect the intersection of nature and culture, bringing these two very integrated and important elements together in a location that will serve as a gateway to our City. The first hour of this program will focus on the vision and process being used to bring this new museum to fruition. The last 30 minutes will be an interactive focus group where Katie will seek input from our TEMPO member stakeholder group. To make this session as effective as possible, we’re asking for members to register for these two sessions separately based on your availability to attend either just the first half or both aspects of the program. Please note your registration type in the registration form so we can get an accurate count for the focus group portion. Our Speakers: Katie Sanders joined the Milwaukee Public Museum in December 2019 to advance the museum’s vision of building a 21st Century museum--a community-centered museum that explores the intersection of nature and culture. Sanders is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with a Bachelor’s in Political Science and International Relations and a Master’s in Public Affairs, and completed Harvard University’s Strategic Perspectives in Nonprofit Management course. She has been recognized with the Milwaukee Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 Award, the Donald Driver Foundation’s Driven to Achieve Award, and Milwaukee Magazine’s “Bridge Builder” Betty Award. Sanders is active in her community and serves as board chair of the Lutheran Home and Harwood Place, member of Professional Dimensions, secretary of her parish finance council, and treasurer of the school PTA. She resides in Milwaukee with her husband and three sons.
