Peggy Williams-Smith took the helm at VISIT Milwaukee in late-2019, ahead of one of the biggest tourism years ever for our area and one that would put Milwaukee in the national spotlight. In a span of weeks, everything has changed.

Join us for EWL’s first-ever virtual program meeting as Peggy shares what it’s been like to face this unprecedented situation on the front lines, her strategy for making decisions and shifting priorities, how she’s caring for herself and her team, and why she believes there are still #GoodThingsBrewing in our city.

About Peggy Williams-Smith:

Peggy Williams-Smith attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and began her career in hospitality operations at a semi-private country club. She started with Marcus Hotels & Resorts in 1997 and held various positions throughout the company. In her previous and last role with Marcus, she served as Senior Vice President for Marcus Hotels overseeing the growth of the SafeHouse Restaurant group under the Marcus umbrella. In November 2019 she assumed her current role as President & CEO of VISIT Milwaukee, the city’s visitors and convention bureau. She was selected from a national field of 100 candidates and is the first woman to lead the organization.

Peggy has been a TEMPO Milwaukee member since 2006 and is also a past president of the organization. She is a past board chair of the American Heart Association, steering committee member of Milwaukee Women inc. and sits on the Professional Dimensions, Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation and American Red Cross boards. She chaired the 2016 United Performing Arts Fund city wide campaign and received the Marcus Corporation Ben Marcus Humanitarian Award in 2017.
